An Icon in the Heart of Lamego
In the heart of the historic city of Lamego, in the iconic Praça do Comércio, stands a monumental building with over 150 years of history.
With its striking architecture, stone arches, tall shutters, and charming balconies, this building represents a heritage of undeniable cultural and architectural value.
Memories of the Past
Over the decades, the building housed important institutions such as the Bank of Portugal, the Portuguese Gymnasium, the National Organization of Portuguese Youth, the Lamego Livestock Administration, and various commercial establishments.
However, as time went by, the years took their toll, and the once-glorious building had become run-down and nearly uninhabitable.
A Thoughtful Restoration
The restoration was a demanding and meticulous process, guided by respect for the building’s historic identity and a commitment to modernization and comfort.
Every architectural detail was carefully preserved, from the stained glass windows that illuminate the interior to the majestic staircase, keeping the memory of the past alive. At the same time, contemporary elements were introduced to ensure a sophisticated and welcoming living experience.

The building was transformed into an elegant local accommodation, comprising seven apartments that offer guests a stay where tradition and modernity come together in perfect harmony.
From the windows of the top floor, the view spans the imposing silhouette of Lamego Castle to the south, while to the north you can glimpse the historic Rua Nova, the City Hall, and the Serra das Meadas as a stunning backdrop.
